Help us plant the Gift That Grows in March
January 12, 2016
A public event will be held on Saturday 19th March in Sheffield for the Gift that Grows sponsored tree planting scheme at Skye Edge in Sheffield. The Gift that Grows is a scheme run by South Yorkshire Forest Partnership (SYFP) enabling anyone to donate towards the planting of new trees across South Yorkshire.
The SYFP team will be joined by the Parks and Countryside Community Forestry Team to run the event in Sheffield at Skye Edge (S2 5FY) on Sat 19th March. All those who donate to the scheme receive an invitation to the event which will be held on publically accessible land such as a park or woodland. For more details about the site call 0114 2571 199. If you would like to attend, please let us know. The meeting point is where Manor Laith Road joins Skye Edge Avenue at 10am.
Tree sponsorship costs from as little as £12 and purchases whips or trees for a site in Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley or Doncaster. It ensures that it is maintained to give it a good chance of surviving in the long term. Depending on what types of trees are required on the specific site, those attending the event will plant either whips, medium or heavy standard trees. The trees chosen reflect what species are already on site and what is specified in any long term management plan.
There will also be a tree planting event at Bluebell Park Road (S75 5JF) in Barnsley on Saturday 20th Feb- call us to find out more details about the site.
See SYFP’s website for news about tree planting in Rotherham and Doncaster.
Whether you are celebrating a birthday, marking an anniversary or commemorating a loved one, sponsoring tree planting is a noble and enduring act that ensures the future of our Community Forest across South Yorkshire.
