Gift that Grows Tree Planting
June 27, 2011
South Yorkshire Forest Partnership recently sponsored and part organised a Gift that Grows tree planting event in Cantley Park, Doncaster, along with several other planting days with local schools and voluntary groups.
It was very exiting that we had children from as young as 2 years old up to people in their seventies planting trees. On most of the days the weather was nice and bright.
The generous sponsorship of 7200no tree for Cantley Park will help towards woodland creation, which will hopefully attract more wildlife into the recently modernised park.
We would like to express a special thank you Land Securities who sponsored 400 no. trees.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Doncaster Council for assisting us with the planting events, and also the people that sponsored the trees.
Tree planting is a great event to bring groups of people together who like getting their hands dirty. It is a great gift for someone who has everything or who enjoys walking so they can keep revisiting their trees. Trees are usually planted to celebrate births, birthdays, anniversaries, to remember a loved one or if you just enjoy doing you bit to regenerate the environment. The trees are planted on council public access sites so you can visit your trees whenever you wish.
