In the current changing climate no business can afford to ignore the rising costs of fossil fuels or the growing need to cut carbon emissions. If you're an SME paying corporation tax, installing a wood-fuelled heating or cooling system could cut your carbon emissions, reduce energy costs and get you a 100% rebate towards the installation cost through the government's Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme (ECA).
In many regions the wood fuel infrastructure is not sufficiently developed for businesses to take up this opportunity but the South Yorkshire Forest Partnership's Wood Fuel project has worked hard over the past four years to establish a fully working supply chain, making biomass boilers installed under the ECA scheme a very attractive prospect for businesses in Yorkshire.
To help businesses assess the scope for installing biomass systems, the South Yorkshire Forest Partnership has produced a free guide: "Fuelling the Future", which outlines the basic economics, site considerations and boiler options. It also includes a useful contact list and information about funding opportunities. For your free copy of 'Fuelling the Future' contact Robin Ridley, South Yorkshire Wood Fuel Officer on 0114 2571199 or email robin.ridley@syforest.co.uk.
The South Yorkshire Wood Fuel Project is supported by Yorkshire Forward. For more information about wood energy cluster in the region visit www.wood-fuel.org.uk.
